St Kilda Road Precinct Review

In January 2011, the Minister for Planning introduced interim mandatory height controls for part of the St Kilda Road Precinct for a 2 year period. Council will use this as an opportunity to review the height controls for the whole of the St Kilda Road Precinct as well as the adjoining area within South Melbourne. As part of this assessment, we are considering a range of matters, including:

Current and future community needs - What services are needed to provide for current and future residents? Council delivers a range of services in our community including care for older persons, children and community facilities.
Infrastructure capacity –What are the issues relating to utility services, and transport? How is the area coping with traffic and parking and can this be better managed?
Built form including building heights – What are appropriate planning controls to manage future growth in this precinct?
