Port Melbourne Waterfront Urban Design Framework

Read this: Draft Port Melbourne Waterfront UDF

The City of Port Phillip has prepared a draft Port Melbourne Waterfront Urban Design Framework (UDF) which will enhance liveability, improve public spaces and secure a sustainable future for the precinct. It addresses the pressures on the waterfront area whilst recognising the rich maritime history and its unique character.

Council conducted extensive community consultation to develop the draft UDF including two community workshops, an onsite information session and a survey. You can view the results of our consultation via the vision report and survey results.

Council resolution

The consultation period for the draft Port Melbourne Waterfront Urban Design Framework closed on Friday 9 March 2012.

Public submissions on the draft UDF were heard at an Ordinary Meeting of Council Tuesday 27 March 2012. At this meeting Council resolved, amongst other things, to undertake further strategic work on the Port Melbourne Waterfront including detailed design guidelines for the property located at 1-7 Waterfront Place that reflect the Urban Design Advice prepared for 1-11 Waterfront Place, Beacon Cove that was adopted by Council in October 2009. Planning for this work will be presented to Council at a public meeting on 28 May 2012.

For more information view the Council Report and Meeting Minutes.
