Eastern Reserve Playspace

New onsite consultation date - Wednesday 22 May 12 - 2 pm, Eastern Reserve (north)

The Eastern Reserve Playspace upgrade aims to create a more vibrant and exciting Eastern Reserve Playspace for the community. View the detail design and background information.  The design addresses the needs of a shared and multi-use open space, taking into account key amenity, accessibility, safety, play value and the value of open space to the wider community.

Community consultation

The final design was informed by feedback from community consultations held in November 2011 and March 2012.

Feedback from the community focused on key topics including improving the playspace with new play equipment, improved facilities such as furniture, shelter and drinking fountain and extending the existing fencing.

Next steps

Upgrade works are currently underway on the southern side of Eastern Reserve. Construction will commence in April and is due for completion in July. During construction, areas of the park will be fenced off for safety, whilst still allowing for access to lawn areas of the reserve.

Eastern Reserve - northern side

The concept design proposes that fencing is erected on the northern side of Eastern Reserve. The use of fencing in this area as outlined in the concept design has been informed by community feedback as a way to create a safer open space environment for active and passive recreation for all ages.

Following completion of works at the northern side of Eastern Reserve, this area has been identified as a potential location for an off leash dog trial.
