Residents of the City of Port Phillip have experienced some harsh weather in recent years. We have worked with the State Emergency Services and others to prepare an online information kit to help you prepare for severe weather.
The kit prompts you think about how you, your home or your possessions might be affected by a severe storm, flood or heatwave. It guides you through some basic steps to prepare for severe weather and also suggests what you should do during and after a storm, flood or heatwave.
We're interested in your feedback on the online information kit, as well as any tips you can share that could help others respond to future heatwave, storm or flood events.
Become a volunteer weather watcher
The City of Port Phillip is asking for volunteer weather watchers to observe & record their own & their neighbour’s experiences of severe storms, floods and heatwaves. Your observations will help us understand current levels of community awareness & will help us develop Port Phillip specific information to help our community prepare for & respond to severe weather events.
The duration of the observation period is December 2011 – April 2012
If you would like to be involved please contact Anne Dansey on 9209 6693 or email adansey@portphillip.vic.gov.au.
To record your weather watching findings
You can record your observations by downloading a printable version of the Weather Watchers Kit. Alternatively you can record your observations online: 1) Storm Event, 2) Flood Event, and 3) Heatwave Event.
